Celebrating 100 years of Cathedral Latin School — 1916 to 2016.
In 2016, Cathedral Latin alumni gathered to mark the 100th anniversary of the school's founding. The centennial celebration honored the academic, athletic, and Catholic traditions that defined Cathedral Latin from 1916 to its closing in 1979.
The celebration was held at the William O. Walker Rehabilitation Center, which sets on the former site of Cathedral Latin School and features the original school gateway arch on its east wall. Over 300 alumni, family, and friends attended the event. The building's atrium was updated in response to the Alumni Association's insistence that a plaque be placed there, noting the school's Catholic character. Project manager Frank Hlad '68 designed the plaque and reorganized the atrium, moving W O Walker memorabilia to the atrium's west wall. Hlad and Joe Nista '64 designed replica school doors to place inside the arch. Those doors, built by Nista, and Hlad's plaque were installed just before Christmas, 2015. Building management immediately renovated the space with paint, tile, carpeting, and artwork, completing that work in time for the Centennial Celebration.
